I almost forgot that i purchased this on dvd last year . Likely that we were in the midst of costuming or exhibition distractions . A fascinating film, evocative, and so of the moment. The plot is wonderfully warped here is what Wikipedia has on it: Decoder is a1984 West German filmdirected by Muscha. It is a cyberpunkand counter-cultural film roughly based on thewritings of William S. Burroughs, who also acts in the film.Bill Rice plays Jaeger ("Hunter"), an agent of the government in charge of suppressing dissidents, while FM Einheit plays a burger shop employee who discovers that by changing the background music from pleasantly calming to industrial "noise" music, he can incite riots and a revolution against the looming power of the government. Decoder was made on a small budget, and was written by Muscha, Klaus Maeck, Volker Schäfer, and Trini Trimpop. Nevertheless, the project was able to attract a number of notable people within the countercultural and industrial music "scenes" to perform in it. Actors included Burroughs, Genesis P-Orridge, Christiane Felscherinow, and bands included Soft Cell, Psychic TV, Einstürzende Neubauten, and The The.[3]

A fantastic tribute album: Mercury Rev the indy rock band formed in 1989 has produced -Bobbie Gentry’s “The Delta Suite” Revisited. A truly thoughtful tribute , consistent mood runs throughout with covers by a stunning array of brilliantly talented women from the music world .I waited ages for it to arrive and was not disappointed , is already in its second pressing.Unlike so many tribute albums that inevitably contain 2-3 skippable covers , this one has a beautifully consistent atmospheric quality that reflects but in my opinion does not seek to merely imitate. Steady production aspect and the liquid ,and totally ranging beautiful voices singing Bobbie Gentry’s storytelling lyrics makes for a great rainy day listen. REPOST:
I have been digging through my pop culture folders and ran across this set of Japanese ads from various sources . Another item from the ANALOGUE PLASTICS ARCHIVES My Bandai 8BAN miniature record player .I bought it in 2004 on a whim and am so glad I did. here is more info about it from the fab Museum of Obsolete Media “8ban records are so called because they are 8 cm in diameter (just over three inches). They were introduced for the Japanese market by Bandai in 2004 along with a special battery-powered player and eighty titles were available at launch, including Japanese pop and some Western oldies. Bandai produced the player for around a year, and in 2005 the band The White Stripes bought up the remaining stock of 400 players to sell as merchandise on their tours, along with 8ban versions of eight of their singles. They called the format Triple Inchophone, referring the 3-inch size, and these records now command a high price. 8ban records are single-sided and can hold up to 4 minutes of music played at 33⅓ rpm. Some records have a small centre hole, while others have a larger hole like a US 45 rpm single, so the 8ban player came with a small adaptor for these. Although the Bandai 8ban player only had one speaker, the records were usually stereophonic. Due to their small size, most standard record players cannot play them. In 2019 a new 8ban record player was released, the Crosley RSD3, along with 20 new titles for Record Store Day. As of April 2019, there have been 116 titles produced on 8ban records.” (Text Source -obsoletemedia.org ) Hey Swingers !
